Some Fantastic News! And Updates on The Collapse of the Tomato Infrastructure!
Good evening, CHW.
Unnecessary Research
I just nearly wrote this newsletter with notes from July. Hilariously, I did a lot of research on whether or not you spell Brussel(s) sprouts with a capital B. I'll just say: -- It's a very heated debate. It's amazing what you learn when you're reading the wrong information entirely.
The tomatoes fell over last week. We saved a majority of them by building some temporary structures. Thank you to Joe and Charlotte for your emergency response. I would also like to highlight the fact that they bought and brought us chips, which was an absolutely welcome treat after the ordeal of attempting to fix the tomato supports. Thank you!
Caren has been busy harvesting inordinate amounts of fruit veg. We now have an extremely healthy supply of jam making ingredients!
Hannah's New Job
Hannah has a new job (don't panic, it's part time). Hours to be updated in the volunteer WhatsApp to keep everyone posted. She will be working with the Heritage Seed Library as a Community Horticultural Project Co-coordinator. BIt fancy! Congratulations, Hannah! We are excited for you.
New Employee
We have a new employee on the farm, so we will be seeing more of him around. His name is Joe. Please make him feel welcome if you see him. He has is an experienced grower who seems to really like the project and we're extremely excited to have him on the team to help take some of the weight off Hannah's shoulders.
Pam and I (Aaron) cleared out the fridge shed. A long overdue task which has needed doing for some time. More to come on that soon, I'm sure.
Special General Meeting
We have a Special General Meeting on the 6th September at 2pm. Notifications will be coming out very shortly. Keep an eye on your email. It will be held at the Tea Rooms at Whetstone Pastures Farm.
Thanks
Join me next week where I write the newsletter for December 2024!!
P.s. Thank you to everyone who is contributing regularly to the farm. It is very much appreciated and we value your time and energy immensely. Sometimes those thanks can get lost in the perpetual cycle of keeping everything moving, but we are immensely grateful.
Until next time!
Aaron.
