About Us

Community Harvest Whetstone is a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) co-operative at Whetstone Pastures Farm, South Leicestershire. We were set up in 2009 by Transition Leicester, and have been growing food with and for local people ever since.

Members and growers support each other. Members commit to a crop share for the season, which gives our growers a secure income to plan and grow. In return, members collect a weekly share of what the farm produces, and lend a hand on the farm when they can.

How We Grow

We grow agroecologically, working with the soil, the seasons and the wildlife around us rather than against them. We use organic methods and grow what suits this land. What's in your share each week is what's ready in the field.

The Farm

Our growers work the land at Whetstone Pastures through every season: planning, sowing, tending and harvesting, in the fields and the polytunnel. Collection days at the farm are a chance to see where your food is grown and to meet the people who grow it.

The People

Community Harvest Whetstone is a registered co-operative society, owned by its members. Members elect a volunteer committee at the Annual General Meeting to look after membership, finances and events, and every member has a vote on the decisions that shape the farm. Everyone contributes what they can: on community days, in the kitchen, or on the committee.
